Founded in 2024 by Dan Gladd, the Mecca Township Historical Society of Ohio was formed for the research, collection, and preservation of historic documents, artifacts, and photos relating to the history of Mecca Township, Trumbull County Ohio, and the Connecticut Western Reserve. We also hold social events for informative and fundraising purposes.
Membership is only $10 a year and $250 for a lifetime membership.
Students are $5 annually. To become a member, come to our next meeting, and we will sign you up!
Ashley is a sixth generation Armstrong in Mecca. She has collected Mecca history and traced her lineage since she was a child. Besides being an author and artist, she is a 14 year Find A Grave volunteer, and has helped others trace their genealogy. She also writes a local history blog at www.draftymuseum.com
Wanda has lived in Mecca for most of her life. Her father, Ray Shafer, was a Mecca Fire Chief. She has served on many historical societies, and was the president of the Genealogical Society for several years. She is very active in the community, performs charitable work for many organizations and events, and truly cares for her town's people and history.
Savannah is the Collections and Research Manager for the Trumbull County Historical Society.
The original board consisted of President: Dan Gladd, Vice President: Tom Domes, and Secretary/Treasurer: Tami Morrison. They put in the hard work that makes the future success of our society possible, and we are forever grateful to them.
On July 28, 2024, the Mecca Township Historical Society presented Mr. Thomas Kachur with an Honorary Lifetime Membership in recognition of the research he has done to document and preserve the history of the township.
On July 28, 2024, the Mecca Township Historical Society presented Mrs. Mary Letwen with an Honorary Lifetime Membership in recognition of her lifetime residency in Mecca and in appreciation of the years of involvement and service to the township.
